This month's team of fantastic students!!

We used old towels (most of them were donated by our community) to make the beds.

Our week in review

This week has been great!  We worked on so many different projects and had so much fun!

We had lots of finishes!  Bean bags, pin cushions and a zippered heart pouch which actually has a zipper on the back as well!  Very creative!

There was knitting, weaving, cross stitch, sewing and crochet happening!  And…

something that really makes me happy.  These sewn projects were all made by one of my students all by herself at home!  How fantastic is that?!!

Spring Break Sewing Camps!!

We are accepting registration for our spring break sewing camps now!

On Connie's Playdesk February, Week 1

I have so much fun in the studio working with our students, but I also have fun working on some of my own projects!  Here are some things I've been doing this week.

And of course, lots of baking and cooking!

Last week of January in review

We had lots of finished projects!

We wound our hand dyed yarn into balls to take home.

And we continued with projects and started new ones.  It’s always such a fun time in the studio!

2 weeks of January in review

Since the start of the new year, we have been having a fantastic time in the studio!  Having a break for the holidays is fun and I love spending time with family, but I am always super happy to get back to the studio with our students.  We have accomplished and learned so much these first two weeks back.

We had a big finish by a student who has been working hard on this over-the-shoulder bag.  The front and shoulder strap is quilted, it has a zippered outside pocket, it has inside pockets and is totally lined.  It is a true work of art!!  I can’t wait to see what she makes next.

Two new sewers finished their pin cushions.  Aren’t they sweet?!!

img_5178.jpg

We had a finished woven scarf and an embroidered bookmark.  Both are super cute.

img_5268.jpg

A finished llama stuffed animal!  This is so soft and cuddly!

We learned how to dye yarn…

The hanks turned out gorgeously!!

img_5263.jpg

Lots and lots more weaving going on.  Some of our weavers are creating patterns with pick up sticks!

And lots more sewing.  We were also knitting and crocheting this week.  More on that next time!

On Connie's Playdesk this week.

This past week has been super fun!!  Classes started back up and the studio was full of students, great projects both started and finished and energy!!  I love a full studio!  On my front I did a lot of baking, cooking and cross stitching.  The Santa cross stitch is coming right along...

img_5157

I also made a sourdough starter,

Which turned into sourdough bread, waffles and pizza crust.  All were super yummy – the kids now want to make homemade pizza every Friday instead of store bought.  That’s a win in my book!!  I also made a friendship bread starter..

Which turned into bread, cookies and pancakes.  I still have a little left in the fridge to make more pancakes.  Both starters are sitting on the counter being fed and cared for so we can have more fresh bread and goodies!

img_5159.jpg

Some planting happened.  I have had those cute little pots forever and they were looking very forlorn so I decided to plant them – spider plant to the left, some random little plant from the garden in the center and two leaves of a succulent on the right.  I hope they all grow.  The two at the top are an ivy and morning glory (from seed) – one of my sons gave me those cute glass planters and I wanted to use them right away!!

My two youngest (13 and 17) decided to play with chocolate.  They covered oranges and apples – that’s healthy, right?? and then filled ice cube trays with chocolate, raspberries, little marshmallow bits, and more chocolate.  Needless to say, all of these are gone!

Lastly, I tried my hand at crab cakes and they turned out pretty good.  Everyone ate them and liked them.  Can you see the sourdough bread in the left photo?  There were also some cooked made with chocolate chips filled with peanut butter – YUMMY!!

All in all, this week was very productive and looks super busy, but I didn’t feel super busy.  I guess that’s the best way to go about it, do the things you love and life feels great!
